THE POLITICS OF POPULATION

Countries all over the world are marked the global population reaching seven billion by each nominating a child born on 31 October. The UN calculated the milestone would be reached at some point on Monday 31st October. But as the global population rises, the proportion of young people is decreasing, and the gap between the rich and poor is widening too.

Modern research on the genetic structure of human populations suggests that nearly 15 000 years ago the world population was 15 million (the present population of Delhi, India). The population by the time of Isa (AS) over 2000 years ago had increased to 250 million (about the same as present day Indonesia). On the eve of the industrial revolution in the 18th century world population had tripled to about 700 million (double the size of current day America). In the two centuries that followed the global population increased at an annual rate of 6% reaching 2.5 billion by 1950. In the five decades that followed global population has more then doubled at a rate of 18% to reach more then 6 billion on the eve of the 21st century. Although growth rates are slowing, barring some demographic catastrophe the world population should reach 9 billion by 2050. The current population of the world stands as of November 2011 at 7 billion.

The myth of world overpopulation

The situation of the majority of the world's people is one of abject poverty and misery. 3 billion in the world live on fewer than two dollars a day. From amongst them 1.3 billion have no access to clean water; 3 billion have no access to sanitation and 2 billion have no access to electricity. The rate of population growth over the last century has been labelled the underlying cause of the world standing on the brink of disaster; we are running out of food to sustain such growing population. It is argued by the proponents of over-population that the huge growth in world population is responsible for poverty, environmental destruction and social unrest. Economic development in the third world is impossible as long as populations continue to grow as a result international agencies and governments have developed numerous programmes to curtail the rate of population growth, all of these have been implemented in the third world.

The United Nations sponsored the first conference of its kind in 1994 in Cairo to examine the problem of overpopulation and propose measures to control it. The conference debated numerous approaches to control fertility; it promoted the use of contraception, promoted liberal economic development and called for the improving of women's status. The basis of the conference was an acceptance that population growth contributes to economic decline and efforts to control population growth is hampered in the third world by religious beliefs that promote large families and lack of education for women.

Such efforts have led to an acceptance that Population growth leads to negative effects such as Economic decline, Stagnation, Global poverty, Hunger, Environmental devastation and Political unrest. Such a philosophy has been the driving engine for the UN and World Bank. Population growth is a problem of Africa, Latin America and Asia and if the problems are to be solved then such countries are the ones that must do it. Hence the victims who have suffered the worst are to blame with empirical research proving such an assumption.

The first person to advocate such a view was reverend Thomas Malthus in 1798, who in his famous Essay on the Principle of Population, stated that scarcity will lead to problems because while populations increase at a geometrical ratio, (2, 4, 8, 16, 32) resources such as food increase with a ratio that is only arithmetic (2, 4, 6, 8, 10). As a result, without 'checks' to control fertility, populations will increase, use up the worlds resources causing famines, war and disease to balance resources and population.

This alleged over-population has to be in relation to something to qualify it being over. That something is the use of resources. The resources being consumed leading to global imbalances are attributed to population sizes.

Although there is no consensus on why the first nation in the world to industrialise was Britain its causes are generally accepted as potentially 8 factors, one of them being the growth in population.

Following the union with Scotland in 1707, the British population stood at 6.5 million; a century later it had reached 15 million. More importantly, most of that growth had taken place after 1750 in one of the greatest population explosions in British history. By 1801 the population had grown to well over 16 million. This increase was critical as it increased the potential labour force and consumers of commodities. China and India have also proven that large populations are a good thing, although during the 1960's and 1970's both nations implemented programmes of population reduction under the influence of the West both managed to reduce the size of population growth but have been unable to curtail it and at the same time they represents the largest growing economies of the world, which contradicts the overpopulation view that more means more resources being depleted.

Capitalism = Poverty

When all assumptions on the effects of population growth are scrutinised population increases in no way has ever contributed to the many ills of the world today and what becomes clear is that there is a clear political agenda in attributing the increasing global population as the cause of the worlds potential disaster. This agenda is to shift the real cause away from the lifestyles, living patterns, un-sustainability of consumerism, poverty and blatant abuse of the Third world in order that the western world can live of the third world. Accusing population of causing the worlds ills would be tantamount to accusing too many women in the world for the high rape rate in the West or the existence of too many trees for causing bush fires in the world.
The developed world faces a very series conundrum; Japan, Russia, Germany, Switzerland and much of Eastern Europe are experiencing population decline, due to a huge reduction in births. The rest of the Western world would also have declining populations was it not for immigration. As population numbers decline in the West relative to the third world and Muslim world such countries will have a legitimate right based upon their numbers to demand greater say in so called international institutes and representation on international bodies. The issue of overpopulation is a very useful tool to vilify nations with have rising populations and at the same time protecting its potential loss of future influence. This can be seen clearly with Turkish EU accession, upon joining the EU, Turkey's almost 70 million inhabitants would bestow it the second largest number of MEPs in the European Parliament. In addition Demographic projections indicate Turkey would surpass Germany in the number of seats by 2020. Turkey's membership would have wide ranging consequences for the future direction of the EU including the thorny issue of future enlargement plans, grounds by which Valéry Giscard d'Estaing of France has opposed Turkey's admission. d'Estaing has suggested that it would lead to demands for accession by Morocco.

For all the blame placed on the third world for being too many in number The Industrialised West consume 81% of all that is manufactured in the world, although the third world has most of the resources and minerals needed to manufacture the worlds goods, the third world only consumes 3.6%. The Western world consumes 50% of the 21st century's most important resource; oil, it produced less then a quarter of it.

It's all about the Economy

The developed world has come to be characterised with its consumer industry, it has become obsessed with consumption. Economies are measured by their ability to produce more then the same period last year and Gross domestic product (GDP) has become the measurement by which progress and happiness is measured. Westerners view their needs as ever increasing and corporations with the help of new marketing techniques have over the years generated numerous artificial needs. The importance of the consumer to consume was outlined by Richard Robbins in his award wining book 'global problem and the culture of capitalism,' 'a couple of days after the al Qaeda operatives crashed two planes into the world trade centre on September 11th , US congress members met to plan a message to the stunned public. "We've got to give people confidence to go back outside and go to work, buy things, go back to the stores, get ready for thanksgiving, get ready for Christmas," said one member of congress, echoing the message of the president 'get out' he said "and be active members of our society." (CNN 2001). 'The fact that after one of the most shocking events in US history government officials were urging citizens above all to shop and work is ample testimony the significance of consumption in the effective working of our economy and indeed for the whole society."

Consumption and more consumption!

Society has been transformed from purchasing what was necessary to survive to buying habits where luxuries have been turned into life's necessities; this was largely achieved by marketing and advertising. The goal of advertisers has always been to aggressively shape consumer desires and create value in commodities by imbuing them with power which will transform any person into something more desirable. National campaigns are undertaken where celebrities effectively endorse them. Advertisers with the help of corporation's stir up anxiety and restlessness over the possession of things that are 'new' or 'up to date.' Being in possession of the 'fashionable' thing has become a necessity and being defined as 'unfashionable' is one of life's failures which capitalism created ensuring the consumer remains consuming.

The nuclear family of western nations (the 2.4 children family), while smaller in number then the Third world have always consumed far more resources. After WW2 the US Department of Commerce, at the pressure of affected businesses promoted the notion of larger homes, and even a room per child, in order to increase sales of the many products that are purchased in a home. Due to this the US with 4% of the world's population, consumes 25% of the world's resources. This is in stark contradiction to what is advocated by the US in regards "over" population.

It is to the consumer businesses look to supply their goods and for the impetus for the continued expansion of the economy and the accumulation of money. The reason why capitalism needs to continuously grow and expand is because for companies to make profits they need to continually sell more and more of their goods and services. These goods require resources which are naturally found in the Earth such as oil, gas water etc. This requires the pursuit of these minerals in the third world where most of the worlds minerals are and this is where the worlds shortage of food and global poverty lies. The advances in technology will ensure more goods are produced at cheaper prices undercutting competitors. The struggle lies in continually developing technology to produce items quicker and cheaper and at the same time ensuring consumers are always willing to buy them. The world's resources are limited hence more and more companies are competing for an ever more dwindling resource base.

In affect the developed world feeds of the third world, policies by government are influenced by the pursuit of national companies usually termed national interests. The need to continually produce more pushes companies to exploit countries with resources and the third world is duped with the opportunity of work. The numerous economic process zones in south East Asia, where workers work in dismal conditions earning just a few dollars a day are evidence of this. In such zones the companies concerned are not allowed to sell such products in the market the goods are produced in but are only allowed to have them produced which brings jobs to the host economy.

National Interests are the root of the problem

It was in the 1950's and 1960's the US developed a whole host of policies to counter the rise in population of the Third world. Population growth in poor countries started to become a concern to western governments. A US National Security Study memorandum produced in 1974 by the National Security Council at the request of then US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, concluded that there were four types of reasons that population growth in poor countries could be a threat to US national security:

1. Larger nations would gain greater political power

2. Populous nations would be more able to deny the West access to resources and materials

3. Growing number of younger people might be more able to challenge global power structures

4. Growing populations may be a threat to US investors in those countries.

The memorandum mentioned nations like India, Brazil, Thailand, Turkey, Ethiopia and Colombia as countries of concern in this respect. The request for the memorandum was called NSSM 200 (National Security Study Memorandum), while the official endorsing of it that led to it being a foreign policy guide was called NSDM 314 (a National Security Decision Memorandum).

The developed world led by the US was the driving engine behind the IMF and World Bank and their notorious structural adjustment programmes. The Third world was forced to privatise industry, deregulate its markets and turn their economies into factories for exports so the West can continue consuming. Free trade policies were forced on the third world which allowed the West to control essential industries in the name of free markets and globalisation. Such actions ensured a continued flow of cheap consumer items to the West, made by the very cheap labour of the third world.

The Khilafah Solution

The lifestyles of the developed world aswell as their consumption patterns are the real underlying issues which is causing the depletion of the worlds mineral resources. Their increased consumption has ensured the third world remains in a state of poverty, and at the same time the increasing population in the third world is blamed for some of the ills in the world.

Islam addressed to issue of consumption through a number of ayah's:

1. Rizq in origin is from Allah سبحانه وتعالى and Allah سبحانه وتعالى has ordered mankind to seek their provisions through halaal means. Amongst a whole host of Ayah's Allah سبحانه وتعالى made it very clear that he is the provider of ones provisions:
"And eat of what Allah provided to you." [Al-Maidah:88]
"Who created you then provided to you." [TMQ Ar-Rum:40]
"Spend of what Allah provided to you." [TMQ Ya-sin:47]
"Indeed Allah provides to whom He likes." [TMQ Al-Imran:37]
This means all Muslim should drive to earn and seek their provisions and how these are earned is what one will be accounted for on the day of judgment. One should seek them with the understanding that they will receive what has been ordained and not make this the one's ultimate aim in life. One should also work on the basis that there are sufficient mineral resources in the world for all to live handsomely as Allah سبحانه وتعالى has provided for all:
"It is He Who created for you all that is in the earth." [TMQ Al-Baqarah:29]
"Do you not see how Allah has made serviceable to you whatsoever is in the skies and whatsoever is in the earth, and He has loaded you with His favours, both the open and the hidden." [TMQ Luqman:20]
"Who has appointed the earth a resting-place for you, and the sky a canopy; and caused water to pour down from the sky, thereby producing fruits as food for you." [TMQ Al-Baqarah:22]
Hence Allah سبحانه وتعالى has created all the original minerals and resources necessary for one to sustain themselves, and then left mankind to work and manufacture goods or engage in agriculture.

2. Islam encouraged spending in the halaal things but prohibited excessiveness in ones spending.

Islam considered excessive spending foolishness (Safah) and squandering, Allah سبحانه وتعالى said
"and squander not (your wealth) in wantonness. Lo! The squanderers were ever brothers of the devils." [Al-Isra: 26-27]
Here Allah سبحانه وتعالى compares squanderers with the devils in their wickedness, which is the greatest rebuke, because there is none more 'devilish' than Satan, squandering means here to spend in the forbidden matters.

3. At the same time Allah سبحانه وتعالى orders one to spend in the halaal matters, Allah سبحانه وتعالى said
"Say: Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has brought for His servants and the good things of His provision." [Al-A'raf: 32]
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Allah loves to see the sign of His favour on His servant," narrated by At-Tirmidhi.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said also: "If Allah gave you property, let Him see the sign of His bounties and dignity on you," narrated by Al-Hakim from the father of Abu Al-Ahwas.
So if someone has wealth and was miserly when spending on himself, he would be sinful in the sight of Allah, this also includes those he is responsible to support.

4. Islam mandated the Khaleefah to provide for the basic necessities of its citizens. Islam considers poverty as one matter for any person in any country and any generation. The basic needs in Islam are defined as three things, food, clothing and accommodation. Poverty in the view of Islam is the non-satisfaction of the basic needs in a complete way. Allah سبحانه وتعالى said:
"The duty of feeding and clothing nursing of mothers in a seemly manner is upon the father of the child." [Al-Baqarah: 233]
And
"Lodge them where you dwell, according to your wealth." [At-Talaq: 6]
Islam made the satisfaction of these basic needs and their provision a right for the person who cannot afford them. The Khaleefah would develop projects and give contracts ensuring the economy provides for every individuals needs. The Khilafah will also have an agricultural policy and grant those without jobs free land in order to develop it.

5. A large chunk of Islamic economics is dedicated to ensuring wealth distribution. Islam recognizes the differences in the ability and strength of people and does not leave things completely to the forces of supply and demand. Islam allows government intervention in the economy to bring equilibrium into the market. This is understood from the ayah "That it (i.e. the nation's wealth) does not become a commodity between the rich among you." (TMQ Al-Hashr: 7) This verse addressed the Ameer to ensure that wealth is not distributed in a manner where it remains amongst the rich alone. Hence Islam allowed government intervention to bring equilibrium in the economy.

6. Islam funds the basic needs of its entire population by designating any utility regarded as indispensable for the community, such that its absence would require people to search far and wide for it, i.e. the asset is difficult to find and make use of as it requires refining, as a public property. This means the utilities would be publicly owned and the revenue generated would be administered for the benefit of all citizens. This is derived from the hadith of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم "Muslims are partners in three things: in water, pastures and fire". Although the hadith mentioned just three things we can utilize qiyas (analogy) and extend the evidence to cover all instances of indispensable community utilities. Thus water sources, forests of firewood, pastures for livestock and the like are all public utilities as well as the mosques, state schools (not including private schools), hospitals, oil fields, electricity plants, seas, lakes, public canals, gulfs, straits, dams etc.

7. Besides the public properties Islam laid down a number of rules to ensure wealth continually circulates and penalized and in some cases taxed those who hoard their wealth. Islam has a whole host of rules which restrict the hoarding of wealth and promotes spending ensuring wealth distribution. Islam has land taxation where Khara'j which is a tax estimated on the quality of the land, and Ushri, which is a tax on the produce from the land. Islam allows the confiscation of land if it's unused for 3 years. This rule would effectively end the monopoly some families have in the third world who inherited huge lands from the departing colonialists, unless it's used productively which would aid wealth distribution

Conclusions

It should be very clear the problem of global imbalances lies well and truly in the policies of the Western nations. Whilst the Third world drowns in the misery of poverty the governments of the developed world lay the blame on the victims for their own misery. The Khilafah has a track record of taking care of the affairs of its citizens and has in its possession a number of policies which will not just ensure all its citizens are catered for but it will place this on the global agenda exposing the West and bringing to an end the exploitative policies of Capitalism.

Demokrasi Sebagai Prasyarat Pembangunan & Kemajuan

French Niqab Ban : Islam VS Capitalism

French MPs have voted to ban the wearing of burkas in public. The bill, which was overwhelming approved by France’s lower house of parliament, must now be ratified by the Senate in September to become law. If passed, it will be illegal to wear garments such as the niqab or burka, which incorporate a full-face veil, anywhere in public.

A parliamentary committee in France has recommended the ban on the Burqa – the full-face veil. The committee’s 200-page report has proposed a ban in hospitals, schools, government offices and on public transport i.e. a ban in public places. According to French domestic intelligence services in a report in July 2009, they concluded that only 367 women in France wore the Burqa! But that’s too many for the French President Nicolas Sarkozy. He says the veils are unwelcome in France. France has been battling with the Muslim dress for the last decade.

In 2004 The Stasi commission proposed the banning of all religious symbols in public education establishments. The Commission was set up by then president Jacques Chirac to look at the application and strength of secularism in France. The banning of the Hijab in schools proved to Muslims and non-Muslims that France had a problem with Islam.

Why does France have a problem with a piece of cloth? Why is France considering legislating against what in reality is a personal decision by Muslim women to cover themselves? Across Europe anti-Muslim sentiment is running very high with nations such as Switzerland – the most insular country in the world banning the construction of Islamic symbols. There are a number of issues that need to be understood in order to comprehend the reasons why Europe is going to such extreme lengths against the Ummah.

- Capitalism has evolved into what it is today after a centuries long struggle to remove the authority of the church. Many thinkers, philosophers and writers lost their lives in the struggle to remove the arbitrary nature of the Christian Church in order to be free. The dogma of the church resulted in many of its adoptions that contradicted reality to be enforced upon the masses; any deviation from this was considered blasphemy, punishable by being burnt at the stake. This intense struggle eventually led to an intellectual revolution in Europe. European philosophers, writers and intellectuals made considerable efforts for comprehensive change in European ideas with the aim of uniting Europeans under secular liberal democratic thought i.e. Capitalism. Many movements were established and played a great part in the emergence of new opinions about life. One of the most significant events that occurred was the change of the political and legislative systems to the nation state. The spectre of a despotic monarchy gradually disappeared to be replaced by republican systems based on representative rule and national sovereignty. This had the effect of triggering the awakening of

Hence Europeans go to great lengths to explain the ‘hard fought for’ values and that any compromise with Freedom, democracy and equality is a betrayal of European history.

- The first attempt to undermine Capitalism was by the Soviet Union who emerged as a powerful nation after WW2. The Soviet Union represented an alternative way of life, with an alternative set of values and at the centre of its belief system was: communism cannot coexist with any ideology. From the moment the Cold War began, Western governments attempted to subvert Communism to create a climate of fear within their own populations, which would allow regime change and military deployments alongside the diversion of massive funds towards military industry rather than domestic industry. The possibility of a nuclear attack by the red menace was used as a basis for an aggressive attitude towards the Communist Bloc. This was exemplified by the American hysteria through McCarthyism in the early 1950’s and it’s obsession vis-a-vis Vietnam and Cuba in the early 1960’s. The West defended Capitalism though creating a number of false images of the Communist bloc. Whilst the outcome of this struggle is history, the methods used by the West are critical to understand and was encapsulated by Elaine Sciolino on the 21st January 1996, in the New York Times: ‘The Red Menace is Gone. But Here’s Islam. the Green Menace.’

- After World War II Britain needed a pool of new labour and began advertising for jobs in its colonies. As the European continent needed reconstruction a number of other European nations imported migrants from their colonies. As a result of such migration European nations today face a catch 22 situation. On the one hand, they need more immigrants from the developing world to guarantee the sustainability of their economic systems due to their ageing populations. On the other hand, every additional immigrant in Europe is turning the average European into a more nationalist and less tolerant person. As noted in a 2004 report by the RAND corporation: “the sheer number of immigrants required to offset population aging in the EU and its member states would be unacceptable in Europe’s current socio-political climate.”

- The 1990′s witnessed a number of landmark events that contributed to the politicisation of the Ummah in Europe. Events such as the reaction to the publication of the Satanic Verses in the UK, the first Gulf war and Bosnia. Other conflicts such as those in Algeria, Chechnya, Dagestan, Kashmir and Gujarat increased activism while stoking tension. Then came the attacks on New York and Washington where Muslims found themselves unwittingly the minority group at the very centre of European politics. The bombings in Madrid and Britain turned the Ummah in Europe into Islamic extremists. This was epitomised by hostility towards, and suspicion of, Muslims.

When Muslims with European passports were found to be fighting with the Taliban against European forces a debate began on the loyalty of Muslims in Europe to their host countries. Muslim European citizens were now seen as a people apart with a vision very different to what Europe had. 9/11 brought Muslim identity, values and loyalty into question and Muslim minorities all over Europe found themselves bearing the brunt of violence and victimisation as suspicion of them rose to disproportionate levels.

- The post 9/11 climate heralded the end of multiculturalism as a model to absorb minorities, integration into Europe’s values and beliefs became essential. The climate created by the West included open attacks on Islam, such as the women’s dress, Shari’ah, Ummah and Khilafah. Journalists, writers and government ministers justified the attacks on Islam through the use of freedom of speech. When Jyllands-Posten published pictures of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Flemming Rose editor of Jyllands-Posten commented: “The modern, secular society is rejected by some Muslims. They demand a special position, insisting on special consideration of their own religious feelings. It is incompatible with contemporary democracy and freedom of speech, where one must be ready to put up with insults…..” André Gerin, the Communist Party legislator and mayor of Vénissieux, a Lyon suburb who initiated the motion to outlaw the wearing of the Burqa in France made it very clear what his issue is with the Ummah, which resonates across Europe, he said “The burqa is the tip of the iceberg, Islamism really threatens us.” Islam is the problem in Europe; all the various attempts at attacking Islam and banning symbols of Islam are in reality the West’s attempts at defending Capitalism. The Hijab, Niqaab and Burqa for the West represents Islam, hence wearing them is not just a mark of separation, but for many liberals, an open challenge to Capitalism – hence the hostility towards them. The French parliamentary report that recommended the Niqab ban makes this point very clear: “The wearing of the full veil is a challenge to our republic. This is unacceptable. We must condemn this excess,” the report said. The commission called on parliament to adopt a formal resolution stating that the face veil was “contrary to the values of the republic” and proclaimed that “all of France is saying ‘no’ to the full veil”.

- The West defeated Communism through subversion by creating a variety of lies against it with their own populations that would justify actions which would otherwise be considered unpalatable. They then exhausted the USSR through a long arms and space race which destroyed its economy. The West presented their economic system as the ideal system to allocate resources and won many communists to this concept, even though wealth inequity could be seen across the West. In this same vain the West is attempting to protect its ideology through subverting Islam. The West has successfully presented the Khilafah as inherently violent and linked the call for Khilafah with violence amongst its own population. It continues to propagate many of the Islamic rules as outdated and oppressive, such as the women’s dress. In this way the debate is restricted to Islam and for Muslims to explain Islam; this ensures no discussion takes place about Capitalism’s validity, just as the strategy was with communism.

- The French established a strong state in the centre of Europe through the French revolution. The Enlightenment began in France and as a result new ideas on the role of the king and the powers of the state emerged. Many French philosophers and intellectuals gained social, political and philosophical influence on a global scale, including Voltaire, Denis Diderot and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, whose essay The Social Contract, Or Principles of Political Right and Charles de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu described the separation of powers and were all a catalyst for government and societal reform throughout Europe. However today many consider French culture to be dead. Whilst France at the dawn of Capitalism was leading change in Europe, today most thinkers, new ideas and philosophers come from the US, this has created a very insecure France who has become very pessimistic about the future of the nation. This was the very reason the Stasi commission was created, to look at what has gone wrong with France.

- The French like much of Europe feel their way of life, which they already believe is in decline is being challenged by Islam through the wearing of Islamic symbols and through remaining loyal to the Ummah over France. In defending their ideology France has resorted to legislating against Islam rather than have anything in the way of an intellectual debate with Islam. The same can be seen across the Western world, the hatred of Islam can be seen by the constant attacks on aspects of Islam and lack much intellectual depth. Europe is going to extreme lengths to halt the wave of Islam in Europe through banning aspects of Islam, through forcing some to sign up to a code of values as in Germany in order to gain citizenship or as in the UK the need to swear allegiance to the queen to gain British citizenship.

- The attacks on Islam should be seen in a positive light by the Ummah across the world. The West is attempting to defend its deen of capitalism when a coordinated attack has not even been launched by the Ummah. Their attempts at defending capitalism rest on attacking, lying and subverting Islam in the hope of halting the wave of Islamasation that is sweeping across the Muslim world. The politasation of the Ummah will eventually lead to the Khilafah because political ideas always end with a revolution and government – this was the experience of the West. The emergence of the Khilafah is their worst nightmare, this is why the more Islamic the Ummah responds to global issues, the more intense their defence of their ideology takes place.

- The Ummah needs to stand for Islam, for all the lies the west label upon Islam they conveniently overlook the crisis they find themselves in. In the US one person is murdered every 31 minutes, raped every 1.9 minutes, assaulted every 36.9 seconds and one home is burglarised every 18 seconds. Both the US and the UK have the world’s highest rate of teenage pregnancies. 2 out of every 5 people are considered obese in Europe. Whilst Sarkozy attempts to protect Muslim women in France 3.2 million French citizens officially suffer from depression, 25,000 women in France are victims of rape every year, 400 women die every year in France due to violence, men are paid 11% more than women for the same jobs and 5400 women commit suicide every year in France. After over 200 years of capitalism Western societies are drowning in a sea of debt and social breakdown. Capitalism needs to explain why the world should adopt it, it currently has a very weak case considering its problems in convincing the Ummah to abandon Islam, this is why its defence of Capitalism is not through elaborating on its details but by debating the apparent floors in the alternative.

- The West has been able to enlist some Muslim in their attempt to undermine Islam, who unfortunately due to a variety of reasons aid the west in their campaign to demonise Islam. In January 2009 the grand Mufti of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Tantawi, said he would seek an official ban for the face veil in schools. It should be clear that the niqaab is one opinion in Islam with regard the women’s dress in public life. Allah (swt) says in the qur’an:

“Oh Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the woman of the believers to draw their cloaks all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known so as not to be annoyed.” [Al- Ahzab: 59]Whilst there are a number of different interpretations of this ayah, when reconciled with other evidences the Burqa is one opinion, it is therefore an Islamic opinion. However this is not the argument of France or the West. Their argument is that the Niqab represents Islam and therefore is a challenge to those who believe in western values. Responding by denying the Burqa doesn’t just aid the West but is a betrayal to Allah (swt) when the West is clearly in a battle with Islam.

Various surveys, think tank reports and policy makers have all accepted that Muslims globally have rejected western values. A Gallup survey in 2006 concluded Muslim women tended to regard Western culture as morally corrupt and obsessed with sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. This represents a glaring failure on the part of the West faces no challenge to its global supremacy. This means the battle for hearts and minds and physical occupation represents a last ditch effort to salvage the emergence of an alternative system of governance. Thus defending Islam should always be undertaken from the perspective of a position of strength rather then a position of weakness.

It is in this context France is attempting to ban parts of Islam

p/s: malaysia is working towards that. we have many companies nowadays that prohibits muslims from performing solat n the friday prayer. we have many cases that companies disallow muslimah to wear headscarf/khimar. we are only proud that we have adzan, but stupid enough to deny that the secular capitalist system that surrounds us prohibits the uphold of syariah..starting from individual rituals to the form of the state. proud to be malaysian?

China : Rising Dragon or Paper Tiger

China has now officially become the world’s largest economy after the US, replacing Japan, which for over three decades held that official title. Today it has become difficult to not notice the rise of China. It has replaced Germany as the world’s largest exporter and now even consumes more Saudi oil then the USA. In the last decade many analysts have viewed the rise of China as America’s biggest challenge and some thinkers foresee China as the world’s superpower in the not so distant future.

The rapid rise of China on the global map in the last 30 years has shocked many, bewildered others and for some marks the shift of global power. Some have even touted a new model for economic development called the ‘the China Model.’

China as a nation has existed for over 4000 years. Most of Chinese history consists of internal struggles between various dynasties fighting to rule over the nation. Modern China emerged after WW2 when the Japanese who occupied large parts of China were defeated. The resultant vacuum led to civil war with the Chinese communists led by Mao Zedong, supported by the Soviet Union rising to power.

After various attempts to develop China, in 1979 reforms were initiated which would achieve self sufficiency and attract foreign expertise. China after a careful review of its strengths and weaknesses developed an economic policy that enabled it to benefit from its economic strengths and at the same time address its economic weaknesses.

China today produces most of the world’s consumer goods and for many represents an alternative to the exploitative West. Chinese economic development is leading to a geopolitical shift from the west to the east as Western economies teeter on the brink of a second recession in as many years. Many are looking to China to replace the US as the world’s leading economy in the not so distant future.

With this in mind we make the following observations:

* China does not represent a new system of governance or economic model. China today is the world’s industrial workshop; an export oriented economy totally dependent on foreign countries to buy its goods. This is a very fragile model of development.
* Whilst many have called China’s economic model a new form of economic development. The reality is China has adopted Capitalism with the government involved in a large segment of the economy.
* China’s development is intertwined with the US. The US the word’s largest consumer imports the vast majority of the goods that come of China’s production lines. As a result of this America has a trade deficit of $268 billion with China.
* Such trade means US dollars end up in China – totaling over $2 trillion today. Such huge reserves have resulted in China purchasing US treasury bonds, which funds America’s massive trade deficit.
* Like the Western Capitalist world which focuses on production rather than distribution, China’s double digit growth has not touched the lives of hundreds of millions of its population. Because of this China handled 87,000 cases of social unrest; public disturbances, demonstrations and civil strife in 2005.

Whilst China has made significant advances, we need to ask is its rapid growth sustainable.

Capitalists examples of malaise and failure are abound. The US itself pursued the same trajectory of export driven growth through the 1970’s and 1980’s, which all came to a crashing halt as its asset bubble burst. While the US is today still the world’s largest economy it is also the world largest debtor nation, deeply poverty stricken, energy dependent with a currency a fraction of its value only a few decades ago. Japan, another so-called miracle capitalist economy, has been at a state of economic loss for nearly two decades.

Kebangkitan Mesir : Didalangi Amerika??

Seronok tengok api kebangkitan ummat nowadays. Daripada kejahilan dan kegelapan menuju kehebatan dan cahaya....and they go way far from reach of the western ideas.

Terkejut bila tengok hari berikutnya, Mesir bangkit dengan pemuda2nya seramai hampir 30ribu orang membanjiri Dataran Tahrir mendesak penurunan Hosni Murtabak(skang dh tak mubarak dah..skang bakal jadi murtabak).

Mmg state of Anarchy.

Kita semua masih ingat bila mana US dgn strategi politik sekularnya, sentiasa cuba utk menguasai dunia kaum muslimin, baik cara 'elok' atau 'tak elok'.

Aku terjumpa satu petikan berita...bolehla pakat2 baca.

Egypt protests: America's secret backing for rebel leaders behind uprising?

The following is an interesting article from the British newspaper, The Daily Telegraph.

The American government secretly backed leading figures behind the Egyptian uprising who have been planning “regime change” for the past three years, The Daily Telegraph has learned.

By Tim Ross, Matthew Moore and Steven Swinford 9:23PM GMT 28 Jan 2011

The American Embassy in Cairo helped a young dissident attend a US-sponsored summit for activists in New York, while working to keep his identity secret from Egyptian state police.

On his return to Cairo in December 2008, the activist told US diplomats that an alliance of opposition groups had drawn up a plan to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak and install a democratic government in 2011.
The secret document in full

He has already been arrested by Egyptian security in connection with the demonstrations and his identity is being protected by The Daily Telegraph.

The crisis in Egypt follows the toppling of Tunisian president Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali, who fled the country after widespread protests forced him from office.

The disclosures, contained in previously secret US diplomatic dispatches released by the WikiLeaks website, show American officials pressed the Egyptian government to release other dissidents who had been detained by the police.

Mr Mubarak, facing the biggest challenge to his authority in his 31 years in power, ordered the army on to the streets of Cairo yesterday as rioting erupted across Egypt.

Tens of thousands of anti-government protesters took to the streets in open defiance of a curfew. An explosion rocked the centre of Cairo as thousands defied orders to return to their homes. As the violence escalated, flames could be seen near the headquarters of the governing National Democratic Party.
Police fired rubber bullets and used tear gas and water cannon in an attempt to disperse the crowds.
At least five people were killed in Cairo alone yesterday and 870 injured, several with bullet wounds. Mohamed ElBaradei, the pro-reform leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, was placed under house arrest after returning to Egypt to join the dissidents. Riots also took place in Suez, Alexandria and other major cities across the country.

William Hague, the Foreign Secretary, urged the Egyptian government to heed the “legitimate demands of protesters”. Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, said she was “deeply concerned about the use of force” to quell the protests.

In an interview for the American news channel CNN, to be broadcast tomorrow, David Cameron said: “I think what we need is reform in Egypt. I mean, we support reform and progress in the greater strengthening of the democracy and civil rights and the rule of law.”

The US government has previously been a supporter of Mr Mubarak’s regime. But the leaked documents show the extent to which America was offering support to pro-democracy activists in Egypt while publicly praising Mr Mubarak as an important ally in the Middle East.

In a secret diplomatic dispatch, sent on December 30 2008, Margaret Scobey, the US Ambassador to Cairo, recorded that opposition groups had allegedly drawn up secret plans for “regime change” to take place before elections, scheduled for September this year.

The memo, which Ambassador Scobey sent to the US Secretary of State in Washington DC, was marked “confidential” and headed: “April 6 activist on his US visit and regime change in Egypt.”

It said the activist claimed “several opposition forces” had “agreed to support an unwritten plan for a transition to a parliamentary democracy, involving a weakened presidency and an empowered prime minister and parliament, before the scheduled 2011 presidential elections”. The embassy’s source said the plan was “so sensitive it cannot be written down”.

Ambassador Scobey questioned whether such an “unrealistic” plot could work, or ever even existed. However, the documents showed that the activist had been approached by US diplomats and received extensive support for his pro-democracy campaign from officials in Washington. The embassy helped the campaigner attend a “summit” for youth activists in New York, which was organised by the US State Department.

Cairo embassy officials warned Washington that the activist’s identity must be kept secret because he could face “retribution” when he returned to Egypt. He had already allegedly been tortured for three days by Egyptian state security after he was arrested for taking part in a protest some years earlier.

The protests in Egypt are being driven by the April 6 youth movement, a group on Facebook that has attracted mainly young and educated members opposed to Mr Mubarak. The group has about 70,000 members and uses social networking sites to orchestrate protests and report on their activities.

The documents released by WikiLeaks reveal US Embassy officials were in regular contact with the activist throughout 2008 and 2009, considering him one of their most reliable sources for information about human rights abuses.

AND H NSC FOR PASCUAL AND KUTCHA-HELBLING E.O. 12958: DECL:

12/30/2028 TAGS: PGOV, PHUM, KDEM, EG SUBJECT: APRIL 6 ACTIVIST ON HIS

U.S. VISIT AND REGIME CHANGE IN EGYPT REF: A. CAIRO 2462 B.

CAIRO 2454 C. CAIRO 2431 Classified By: ECPO A/Mincouns

Catherine Hill-Herndon for reason 1.4 (d ). 1. (C) Summary and

comment: On December 23, April 6 activist xxxxxxxxxxxx expressed

satisfaction with his participation in the December 3-5 \"Alliance of

Youth Movements Summit,\" and with his subsequent meetings with USG

officials, on Capitol Hill, and with think tanks. He described how

State Security (SSIS) detained him at the Cairo airport upon his

return and confiscated his notes for his summit presentation calling

for democratic change in Egypt, and his schedule for his Congressional

meetings. xxxxxxxxxxxx contended that the GOE will never undertake

significant reform, and therefore, Egyptians need to replace the

current regime with a parliamentary democracy. He alleged that

several opposition parties and movements have accepted an unwritten

plan for democratic transition by 2011; we are doubtful of this claim.

xxxxxxxxxxxx said that although SSIS recently released two April 6

activists, it also arrested three additional group members. We have

pressed the MFA for the release of these April 6 activists. April 6's

stated goal of replacing the current regime with a parliamentary

democracy prior to the 2011 presidential elections is highly

unrealistic, and is not supported by the mainstream opposition. End

summary and comment. ---------------------------- Satisfaction with

the Summit ---------------------------- 2. (C) xxxxxxxxxxxx expressed

satisfaction with the December 3-5 \"Alliance of Youth Movements

Summit\" in New York, noting that he was able to meet activists from

other countries and outline his movement's goals for democratic change

in Egypt. He told us that the other activists at the summit were very

supportive, and that some even offered to hold public demonstrations

in support of Egyptian democracy in their countries, with xxxxxxxxxxxx

as an invited guest. xxxxxxxxxxxx said he discussed with the other

activists how April 6 members could more effectively evade harassment

and surveillance from SSIS with technical upgrades, such as

consistently alternating computer \"simcards.\" However, xxxxxxxxxxxx

lamented to us that because most April 6 members do not own computers,

this tactic would be impossible to implement. xxxxxxxxxxxx was

appreciative of the successful efforts by the Department and the

summit organizers to protect his identity at the summit, and told us

that his name was never mentioned publicly. ------------------- A

Cold Welcome Home ------------------- 3. (S) xxxxxxxxxxxx told us

that SSIS detained and searched him at the Cairo Airport on December

18 upon his return from the U.S. According to xxxxxxxxxxxx, SSIS

found and confiscated two documents in his luggage: notes for his

presentation at the summit that described April 6's demands for

democratic transition in Egypt, and a schedule of his Capitol Hill

meetings. xxxxxxxxxxxx described how the SSIS officer told him that

State Security is compiling a file on him, and that the officer's

superiors instructed him to file a report on xxxxxxxxxxxx most recent

activities. --------------------------------------------- ----------

Washington Meetings and April 6 Ideas for Regime Change

--------------------------------------------- ---------- 4. (C)

xxxxxxxxxxxx described his Washington appointments as positive, saying

that on the Hill he met with xxxxxxxxxxxx, a variety of House staff

members, including from the offices of xxxxxxxxxxxx and xxxxxxxxxxxx),

and with two Senate staffers. xxxxxxxxxxxx also noted that he met

with several think tank members. xxxxxxxxxxxx said that xxxxxxxxxxxx's

office invited him to speak at a late January Congressional hearing on

House Resolution 1303 regarding religious and political freedom in

Egypt. xxxxxxxxxxxx told us he is interested in attending, but

conceded he is unsure whether he will have the funds to make the trip.

He indicated to us that he has not been focusing on his work as a

\"fixer\" for journalists, due to his preoccupation with his U.S.

trip. 5. (C) xxxxxxxxxxxx described how he tried to convince his

Washington interlocutors that the USG should pressure the GOE to

implement significant reforms by threatening to reveal CAIRO 00002572

002 OF 002 information about GOE officials' alleged \"illegal\"

off-shore bank accounts. He hoped that the U.S. and the international

community would freeze these bank accounts, like the accounts of

Zimbabwean President Mugabe's confidantes. xxxxxxxxxxxx said he wants

to convince the USG that Mubarak is worse than Mugabe and that the GOE

will never accept democratic reform. xxxxxxxxxxxx asserted that

Mubarak derives his legitimacy from U.S. support, and therefore

charged the U.S. with \"being responsible\" for Mubarak's \"crimes.\"

He accused NGOs working on political and economic reform of living in

a \"fantasy world,\" and not recognizing that Mubarak -- \"the head of

the snake\" -- must step aside to enable democracy to take root. 6.

(C) xxxxxxxxxxxx claimed that several opposition forces -- including

the Wafd, Nasserite, Karama and Tagammu parties, and the Muslim

Brotherhood, Kifaya, and Revolutionary Socialist movements -- have

agreed to support an unwritten plan for a transition to a

parliamentary democracy, involving a weakened presidency and an

empowered prime minister and parliament, before the scheduled 2011

presidential elections (ref C). According to xxxxxxxxxxxx, the

opposition is interested in receiving support from the army and the

police for a transitional government prior to the 2011 elections.

xxxxxxxxxxxx asserted that this plan is so sensitive it cannot be

written down. (Comment: We have no information to corroborate that

these parties and movements have agreed to the unrealistic plan

xxxxxxxxxxxx has outlined. Per ref C, xxxxxxxxxxxx previously told us

that this plan was publicly available on the internet. End comment.)

7. (C) xxxxxxxxxxxx said that the GOE has recently been cracking down

on the April 6 movement by arresting its members. xxxxxxxxxxxx noted

that although SSIS had released xxxxxxxxxxxx and xxxxxxxxxxxx \"in the

past few days,\" it had arrested three other members. (Note: On

December 14, we pressed the MFA for the release of xxxxxxxxxxxx and

xxxxxxxxxxxx, and on December 28 we asked the MFA for the GOE to

release the additional three activists. End note.) xxxxxxxxxxxx

conceded that April 6 has no feasible plans for future activities.

The group would like to call for another strike on April 6, 2009, but

realizes this would be \"impossible\" due to SSIS interference,

xxxxxxxxxxxx said. He lamented that the GOE has driven the group's

leadership underground, and that one of its leaders, xxxxxxxxxxxx, has

been in hiding for the past week. 8. (C) Comment: xxxxxxxxxxxx

offered no roadmap of concrete steps toward April 6's highly

unrealistic goal of replacing the current regime with a parliamentary

democracy prior to the 2011 presidential elections. Most opposition

parties and independent NGOs work toward achieving tangible,

incremental reform within the current political context, even if they

may be pessimistic about their chances of success. xxxxxxxxxxxx

wholesale rejection of such an approach places him outside this

mainstream of opposition politicians and activists.

Ianya akan terus berjalan...sehingga kemenangan hanyalah milik Allah dan RasulNya.The Wave is Coming....

HUMAN RIGHTS : IDEA HIPOKRIT!

The War Logs

“Hahaha. I hit ‘em,” ungkapnya. Ditimpali oleh teman pasukannya, “Oh yeah, look at those dead bastards.”

Hipokrit Human Right

Apa yang disenaraikan Wikileaks kembali mengusik intelektualiti kita mengenai konsep Human Right/Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM).

AS dan HAM

AS menjadikan HAM sebagai salah satu basis strategi politik luar negaranya.

Habislah kita"...hehe. agak2 aku begitulah. Begitu juga zaman aku mula mendekati cerita2 akhir zaman. Cerita pasal kiamat n stuffs. Bila dah cuak sgt, semangat nak hidup pun dah takde. ASyik pikir kiamat. Putus asa. :)

So baru2 ni keluar news pasal hutan israel terbakar.

1. Masa Gaza kena bedil, takde sorang pun pak arab penjilat celaka ni tolong orang palestin.Tak patut aku marah gila dgn pak arab. Tapi israel terbakar skit, dah berkonyong2 macam nak mampus pergi tolong!!

2. Cerita lah pasal Arrivals la..pasal MOSSAD la, pasal apapun kehebatan yahudi celaka laknatullah, tapi..kebakaran kecil (besaq kelemboi) pun tak dapat nak padam, terpaksa harap jiran2 balaci arab yang lain.

So 2 persoalan ni saja aku nak timbulkan. Semua benda nak tolong. Erdogan tolong israel atas alasan ""In the face of such a natural disaster, we needed to help as a humanitarian and Islamic requirement,(Bila berhadapan dengan bencana alam sebegini, kita perlu memberikan bantuan dan ini juga dianjurkan dlm Islam)" So mcmtulah, kata2 si pengkhianat celaka haram ni.

Inilah pemimpin2 kalian.

fikir..soal.

UNIVERSITI KEDUA??

Aku berkesempatan membaca buku penulisan kassim ahmad iaitu universiti kedua. tajuk luarnya catchy kerana ada statement "kisah tahanan di bawah ISA". Tanpa membelek lama, aku beli buku tu. Aku tau dia anti-hadith.

"jangan banyak tanya, tengok shj. Akur shj"

Sejak bila ummat Muhammad, penutup segala nabi memakai syariat umat terdahulu?

Islam berjaya membentuk manusia, berjaya mengubah manusia. Perhatikanlan.

Namun, persoalan utama yang boleh kita pertanyakan disini adalah "adakah semua kebaikan ini dapat dinikmati jika sistem undian tidak wujud?" adakah mereka-mereka di atas sana akan terus memberi sumbangan jika gaya hidup mereka hanya dibiaya oleh santunan(elaun seadanya)? no more mercedez, no more tenders, no more sponsored , no more parking allowance and no more sponsored outfit tip to toe?

Agar manusia itu memangkah mereka di kertas kelak. i help you, you help me.

fikir...soal.

Anwar paling LAYAK???
